“A bird sitting on a tree is never afraid of the branch breaking, because her trust is not on the branch but on it's own wings. Always believe in yourself”
I think Self Belief is something we are speaking about quite a lot recently particularly on social media but is it as easy as it all sounds? Maybe not but I think there are definitely things we can all do to make sure we believe in ourselves a little more and lets be honest, when you begin to have a little faith in yourself, wonderful things can happen.
So, lets talk social media... Our lives are now filled with scrolling through newsfeeds and time lines of people we know (and don't) seing their 'Perfect Life' (or so we would believe) plastered everywhere. On many occasions this can make us feel inadequate or as though we should have our lives more together when the reality is no one ever really has it all together all of the time.
What we see on social media are the best bits and the highlights of people’s lives. It’s also important to remember that everyone’s lives are different we all have different challenges and we all deal with those differently and that’s ok but we can’t compare our lives to another’s and we certainly shouldn’t be feeling any less of ourselves or our lives because it.
So let’s all just go be confident in yourself now, yes?!!
Well, absolutely yes but let’s be honest there isn’t a switch we can just flick to turn us into super confident and positive people. So what can we do?
Your thought process, start here.
‘Whether you think you can or you think you can’t, you’re right.’
If we live our lives constantly telling ourselves we are inadequate then it’s only normal that we really will begin to act or feel that way but if we start to change our thought process and begin to really believe in ourself you will find that things will change.
Start by waking up everyday look in the mirror and say 3 things you love about yourself.
Allow the thoughts you have about yourself throughout the day to be positive ones...
I CAN do this. I AM more than enough. I AM a GOOD mum, friend, wife or daughter because the thoughts we have about ourself have a huge impact on our lives.
Think of your friends, your mum or daughter then think of the way you think about yourself.
If you constantly said those things to these women in your life how do you think they would feel?
Would they feel good?
If the answer is no then check yourself and what exactly it is you’re telling yourself and change it.
Before bed at night, list another 3 things you have achieved that day. This can be anything it does need to be anything excessive.
Begin to do this everyday and watch how things begin to change around you.
Delete/unfollow those social media accounts that are having a negative effect on you and always surround yourself with positive people who support and believe in you.
We spend some much time and money on hairdressers, beauty salons and dental care but what about investing in our mental care and guess what this doesn’t need to cost money.
I think it’s time now we all invest in looking after our mental health, let’s lift one another up and let us girls stick together because in the words of L’Oréal - ‘You’re worth it!’ and there are no doubts you deserve it my girl! 💖
